Silica-Based Chiral Phase with Covalently Linked β-Cyclodextrin for Enantioselective Chromatography
ReproSil Chiral-Beta-CD is a silica-based HPLC stationary phase with β-cyclodextrin covalently linked to high-purity spherical silica particles, developed for enantioselective separations based on inclusion complex formation. The β-cyclodextrin moiety provides a chiral cavity that selectively interacts with analytes through host–guest inclusion, hydrogen bonding, dipole–dipole, and hydrophobic interactions, allowing efficient and reproducible resolution of a wide range of racemic compounds.
The unique cyclic oligosaccharide structure of β-cyclodextrin offers both a hydrophobic cavity and hydrophilic outer surface, enabling multiple interaction mechanisms that contribute to chiral recognition. Covalent immobilization ensures that the chiral selector remains stable during operation, even under gradient or mixed solvent conditions, while maintaining the native inclusion properties of the cyclodextrin.
The phase is ideally suited for normal-phase, reversed-phase, and polar-organic chromatography, offering flexibility across different mobile-phase systems. ReproSil Chiral-Beta-CD is particularly effective for the separation of aromatic compounds, drugs, pesticides, and molecules capable of inclusion complexation, making it an excellent tool for analytical and preparative chiral HPLC in pharmaceutical, chemical, and biochemical laboratories.
ReproSil Chiral-Beta-CD combines the molecular recognition power of β-cyclodextrin with the robustness of high-purity silica – the reliable choice for accurate and reproducible enantioselective separations across a wide range of chromatographic modes.
Attractive Alternative to Nucleodex beta-OH (Macherey-Nagel) and ChiraDex® (Merck Millipore).
